We know weekends can be mostly running errands, however we thought a nice yummy cherry bakewell will cher-ry you up! 😊 (that was awful sorry!)
Here's how to make a delicious, mouthwatering cherry bakewell for all you baking lovers, or baking starters :)
Ingredients:
-1/2 cup butter, softened
-1/2 cup white sugar
-1 egg
-1 teaspoon almond extract
-1 cup all-purpose flour
-1/4 teaspoon baking powder
-1/4 teaspoon salt
-1/2 cup cherry jam
-1/2 cup sliced almonds
-1/4 cup confectioners' sugar
Instructions:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease an 8-inch square baking pan.
2. In a medium bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg and almond extract.
3. In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt; stir into the creamed mixture until just blended.
4. Spread the batter into the prepared pan. Spread the cherry jam over the top of the batter. Sprinkle with almonds.
5. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes in the preheated oven, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
6. Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then sprinkle with confectioners' sugar before cutting into squares. Enjoy!
