Felixstowe Community Cupboard, a Little Helping Hand for All

The Felixstowe Community Cupboard is an entirely community run project that aims to support anyone in need, regardless of their situation. Situated on Bishops Close off Roman Way, it’s hard to miss with its bright blue exterior! The cupboard uses a ‘take-what-you-need,-leave-what-you-can’ model, relying on donations from those who are able. The most common compliment received is the anonymity using the cupboard offers, allowing people to take what they need at any time and without having to speak to someone.

The cupboard supplies non-perishable food items, however the project also recognises that having a non-essential item can really brighten someone’s day. Often times those struggling for any reason forgo things such as tea and coffee, shampoo, biscuits, cleaning supplies, etc., in order to afford items they need more. The most commonly taken items are along those lines, small things that most people take for granted but actually make a big difference to someone in need.

The project is currently very well used, and donations are coming in regularly, however the need is much greater than we could have imagined. We are currently asking the local community to donate what they can, and also to help spread the word about the Community Cupboard.

Thank you to everyone who uses the cupboard, and to those who donate when able. Together as a community we are making a huge difference.
