East Anglia-based Star to be Celebrated at the Spa Pavilion

Felixstowe's Spa Pavilion Theatre is hosting an evening on Saturday 30th March, 7.30pm, which will include a large element of tribute to and celebration of the creative genius that was Steve Harley, who passed away earlier this week after a short battle with cancer at his home on the Essex Suffolk border.

Led by Robbie Gladwell, lead guitarist and vocalist for many years with Steve Harley & The Cockney Rebel, Robbie’s band will be supported by several special guests, including Cockney Rebel drummer Adam Houghton, country guitar great Adam Laney and Marty Wilde’s guitarist Neville Marten.

Alongside the usual mix of pop, rock, blues and soul to be expected of Robbie Gladwell, who has shared stages with many greats including The Rolling Stones, Bowie, Nile Rodgers, Elton John, 10CC, The Who, BB King, Suzi Quatro and Sister Sledge, to name just a few, there will be a section of celebration to pay respect to Steve Harley, embracing his music and hits.

The Spa's Ray Anderson added: “it was such a shock to hear of Steve's sad passing. We have several connections with him here, including family who worked with Steve at Essex County Newspapers before his famous years. Robbie’s concert was already arranged, and would always have included some Steve Harley songs. We couldn’t let it go ahead without changing it into a night which will include a big mark of respect from us and his band colleagues, with a fundraising element to pay a lasting tribute to Steve in helping with cancer research.”

Tickets are from £22, and from this, a £5 donation will be made by the artists and theatre jointly to Cancer Research UK, in memory of Steve. More details at www.fxspa.co.uk or by calling the Box Office on 01394 284962.
