Felixstowe Pier Drone Footage by Suffolk Air Adventures

A pier, birds and a spectacular sunrise...

But also almost a very costly flight at Felixstowe. As some of you will have seen, I got a little bit over-excited trying to get the killer shot and almost killed the drone!

It was an incredibly windy and bitterly cold morning which really tested both the Mini 2 and me to the limit. The drone did far better than me in this respect I'm afraid, as, after losing the feeling in my hands (seriously) the filming went downhill and I was glad to finish up.

Having said that I am happy with the shots and end result. I would have liked to get a few more close-up shots of the seagulls surfing the wind but (being seagulls) they would not play along.

The pigeons on the other hand were very obliging and came ever closer during their morning murmeration.

I was fairly relaxed about the situation as I know that birds collision avoidance is far betters than DJI's.

Felixstowe pier itself is a great place to visit, as is Felixstowe.

The original pier opened in August 1905 at a length of 2,640 feet it was at the time one of the longest in the country. In 2017, the new £3 million pier opened to visitors, The new structure includes a bowling alley, arcade machines and wraparound board-work.

Sadly visitors are unable to walk the length of the pier due to the unsafe nature of pier deck. With half-term school holidays almost upon us (at the time of posting) I hope the video inspires people to visit and help the town and pier recover from two years of lock-down.

So, please enjoy, like comment and subscribe and any suggestions (within East Anglia!) for locations to drone are always welcome.

Cheers!
