From Stephen Squirrel: "Just had the most amazing night of my 70 years at Felixstowe Ferry taking pics of the northern lights, it was going great until I dropped my glasses into the River Deben as the tide was coming in and couldn't find them, a big thank you to the lovely young lady with a mobile phone torch who helped me try and find them!"







And from Jay Lorenz: "You spend all that money going to Tromso, Norway πŸ‡³πŸ‡΄ and see nothing, you look out you back window and see this for free."



Interesting fact: The northern lights are created when energized particles from the sun slam into Earth's upper atmosphere at speeds of up to 45 million mph (72 million kph), but our planet's magnetic field protects us from this. Here's a wee video that explains it all...
