Know Yourself, by Janet Taylor

The world of the subconscious, mental, emotional and physical wellbeing is large and can be quite confusing. I’m very grateful for this space to be able to share just a few of the learnings that have had a massive effect on my own life, hopefully in a way that is easy to understand and generated my own healing. My wish is simply that these articles benefit those that read them.

If your life is sailing along tickety-boo, then great, your probably a natural at focusing on what you want, putting your energy into what is right for you and looking after yourself. If however life seems a little dull, frustrating  or like an uphill struggle here are some suggestions that may help you?

Thought killed more dreams than failure ever did. So what do you believe is possible or not possible for you? You may not realise it, but a thought a person keeps on thinking, eventually becomes a belief and part of the subconscious. This means one becomes unconsciously aware of the belief and the impact it has on them.

Have you ever looked back on your life and thought, I used to be so outgoing and courageous, who have I become now? Or realise you’ve become stuck in your comfort zone at the same time wishing you had the enthusiasm of someone you admire or aspire to?

You may instantly recall a negative conversation or event(s) that knocked your self-confidence? Or it maybe personal commitments that felt good at the time but no longer serve you and now wear you down.

If an experience impacts a person mentally or emotionally and they are unable to process or get some sort of closure from it, the subconscious will attract similar situations to try reconcile and heal the energetic wound. Ever think, why does this keep happening to me?

Education on emotional processing has been severely lacking for a long time, most people when they feel an uncomfortable emotion reach for distraction, avoidance or suppression of the feeling, you may know it better as fight, flight or flee.

Ever hear the phrase ‘They should of know better?’ A person will always struggle to behave any better than they feel. It is a feeling that makes people react or do the things they do, emotional understanding is always the game changer. It is a beautiful thing when an individual processes and heals their emotions, and healing allows space and understanding for others to do the same.

The body is always on a feed back loop, the mental will always effect the emotional and vice-versa. An emotional reaction is the signal that there is a unwanted thought or belief held in the mind subconsciously. If we can understand ourselves enough to work out what that belief is, there are many process we can use to eradicate the belief, change a behaviour and build back any self confidence that has been squashed.

An array of doubts and negative beliefs about ourselves literally zaps our energy field, and without that energy do you think it might impact what you have left to keep calm in a unwanted situation or to be motivated for change? It also takes a huge amount of energy to suppress emotions,  because they are ultimately energy themselves, and anything that is buried tends to grow roots.

Over time all our experiences build up, the mental and the emotional always impact the physical. Un-ease causes Dis-ease in the body. This could show up simply as a headache, being unable to lose weight, or something more serious like a diagnosis.

You are an electro-magnetic walking, talking, thinking, vibrational, information energy field and what you choose to put your focus (your energy) on, will either add or take from your energy field. People who naturally or intentionally direct their focus in a positive way will generally have more energy. People that believe the grass is always greener or have pessimistic views, will simply feel drained a lot of the time.

What you think matters. Never underestimate the power of your thoughts and also your words. Even if it is about another person, your subconscious can not tell the difference between you and someone else, a negative thought about someone else is just an outward projection of you. It is only your conscious mind or what I call the protective personality that knows your intent.

Here are a few easy practices that might help with your own awareness and automatically increase your energy?

First of all, I’d like you to think of thoughts as tangible ‘things’. (maybe picture them like cartoon bubbles?) They are energy and can dramatically effect the hormones and chemicals you release in your body. If you start to get a headache or any other symptom, ask yourself what you were thinking about, saying or experiencing 30 minutes or so ago. It may surprise you, the body is very responsive.

Maybe you might start to notice when you are criticising or judging yourself. How might you feel if you focused on your strengths or praised yourself for a change?

Gratitude journaling will raise your vibration / energy. Focus on all the things you have to be grateful for and start to train your mind. Your mind is a muscle and you can chose what you would like to focus on. By writing it down, it naturally speeds up the learning / training process and the habit will sink quicker into the subconscious mind too. Just to give you an example, of energy frequency, emotions like love, appreciation and gratitude resonate well over 500Hz, were as guilt, envy and shame a mere 50Hz or below.

What activities and people make you feel good or uplifted? Believe it or not we are designed to feel good and we are born with all our emotions for good reason. If something is right for you it should add to your energy. We can be made to feel guilty or selfish if we indulge in practices that are for our benefit, or we may have the belief that we are not worthy of our time, focus and effort. There are many hidden beliefs as to why we deny ourselves pleasure.

Just start to notice what impacts your energy and what you can do about it? It may be as simple as getting out in nature more, taking up the hobby you have neglected, less take-aways and more fresh food, spending more time with people that are uplifting or some alone time?

If you are unaware of something you simply can’t do anything about it. Awareness is everything and automatically empowers you to make better choices.
