Felixstowe Harmonies has two unmissable events coming up for lovers of popular and classical music. On March 29, the all-women vocal group will team up with acclaimed professional quartet Quattro Amici for A Night Like This, an unforgettable concert blending the timeless beauty of light classics with the energy and excitement of pop and the drama of musical theatre.
Felixstowe Harmonies will sing a selection of mostly contemporary songs from the entertaining repertoire for which they have become known, as well as exciting new material. They will be led by musical director Chandra Grover and accompanied on the piano by Beth Heyburn. The four talented singers who make up Quattro Amici - Natasha Bennet (soprano), Fiona Morris (alto), Gerry Bremner (tenor) and Howard Brooks (bass) - will perform songs from their eclectic classical and contemporary repertoire, accompanied on the piano by the inimitable Joe Richardson.
A Night Like This takes place at 7.30pm on March 29 in the comfort and superb acoustics of the Salvation Army Church, Cobbold Road, Felixstowe IP11 7EL. Tickets (£12, under 16s £6) available at ticketsource.co.uk/whats-on/felixstowe/salvation-army-church/a-night-like-this-with-felixstowe-harmonies-and-quattro-amici/2025-03-29/19:30/t-rpooern
The concert will be supporting the 7th Felixstowe Scouts.
Save the date… in July, Felixstowe Harmonies will welcome two American a capella ensembles, Song of Seattle and PrimeTime, for a week of musical collaboration culminating in an exciting public concert, Across the Borders, at Harvest House in Felixstowe on July 2 at 7.30pm.
The visit is the result of a friendship which began during the Covid pandemic, when choirs and choruses around the world were unable to meet and started singing together online.
Chandra wrote an uplifting song called Across the Borders which was recorded and released by Felixstowe Harmonies during the 2020 lockdown. When they heard the song, PrimeTime commissioned her to arrange it for female barbershop.
It was then recorded by the three groups, plus Ipswich based choir Stellar Acapella, under the group name of Kingdom of United Voices. This will be the first time they have sung together live. Song of Seattle and Stella Acapella will perform together at St Peter’s Church in Ipswich on July 4.
