"Lest We Forget" a Poem by Sarah Lou Cawdron

The day I visited you is the day my life changed
How I walked around in somber and the tears fell
Personally I didn’t know any of you
My heart broke seeing the sacrifice you made

How you fought for your country and gave your everything
Some of you were just teenagers with all your lives ahead of you and some where older
It has made me so grateful for all there sacrifices so we can live our lives today

I walked along each one stopped and paused
The tears were flowing I was deeply humbled
I felt a really strong connection with the soldiers
Though I didn’t know anyone of the fallen soldiers

And whisper thanks for sacrifices made,
For freedoms won, and battles fought with brief
And valiant strength, that shall not quickly fade.
Though earthly battles now have reached their end,
Their spirit lives, a warrior's noble blend.

How today I still talk about visiting you and how much respect I have for each and every soldier
That has served and continues to serve
so this is written  in memory of the brave men and women who served and sacrificed

We will remember them
Lest We Forget
