Felixstowe Community League of Friends June Press Release

Felixstowe Community Hospital League of Friends Supporting Felixstowe Hospital and health services in caring for our community

What a busy first half of the year it is turning out to be for Felixstowe Community Hospital LoF!

Having spent a year as one of the Mayor of Felixstowe, Sharon Harkin’s, chosen charities, we helped with an amazing Spring Ball full of glitz and glamour at the end of April! Then in early May we attended the civic awards ceremony at which each of the Mayor’s charities received their cheques – a staggering £16,500 was raised through the year to support the three causes, monies being divided equally between the three. It had been a wonderful year in which the 3 charities were able to forge great relationships throughout the community – we are so grateful for everyone’s generosity and support.

With the King’s Coronation on the weekend of the 6th May, the LoF ensured the hospital was looking it’s best. A team of volunteer gardeners planted red, wite and blue plants as well as ensuring there was plenty of Union Jack bunting in readiness for the patient and staff garden party. The Lions of Felixstowe also kindly assisted in putting up bunting on the front of the building.

On 20th May we held our annual cream tea. A wonderful, well attended afternoon. Lotty’s kindly provided all of the scones and Gosling’s kindly provided locally produced jam. An enjoyable time was had by all and £378 was raised

And so we continue forward!

At the start of July, we are undertaking another volunteer gardening session as we prepare for the Hospital’s NHS 75 years (5th July). As part of this we are holding a poster competition with Felixstowe School children and then supporting a garden party at the hospital for patients and staff. An exhibition of the children’s artwork and old hospital photos will be on display at the Felixstowe Library the week commencing 17th July.

The 15th July will be our annual Summer Bazaar at St Felix Church hall. This promises to be a fund event for all the family so please do pop along.
