"We are two Felixstowe artists inspired by what see within walking distance of  our homes and on our travels, translating these sights by mark making and printing and then into our favoured medium of stitched fabric."

Rose Merton



"I find a lot of my inspiration both in the Felixstowe area and on my travels looking at architecture as well as nature and tend to develop my work into an abstract format using multiple disciplines and materials including recycling."

 



Rose has completed City & Guilds Patchwork and Quilting (2003) and is an Advanced Creative Stitch Graduate (2020). She also attends workshops to widen her knowledge.
She has exhibited at Festival of Quilts, Creative Stitch Graduate Show, Textiles East and Embroiderers’ Guild exhibitions as well as at the Pond Gallery at Snape Maltings.
She is a member of Spotlight Textiles, Quilters Guild of the British Isles Contemporary Quilt Group Iceni, STARS (formerly EG West Suffolk) as well as small local group Fab5. In the past she was a member of Embroiderers’ Guild Suffolk East Branch for many years

Carol Sutherland



"I have lately been taking my inspiration from along the tideline. I have been creating brushes from objects collected on the beach and using them to mark make on a variety of fabrics which have then been combined to make works evoking aspects of the sea and shore."



Carol has a C&G Diploma in Creative Embroidery. She is a member of Suffolk Group Chain Reaction, local group Fab5 and was an Embroiderers’ Guild member for over 25 years.
 
She has exhibited at The Knitting and Stitching Show, the Festival of Quilts and yearly with the group Chain Reaction at the Pond Gallery at Snape Maltings. She last exhibited at Gallery 142 in 2019 with weaver Cherrie Stevens.
