Power-Walking Through the Seasons, by Shirley du Plessis


We got in touch with local blogger, Shirley. She’s written us a few articles, which you can find here. We thought we’d see what Shirley has been up to and what her plans are for this upcoming season ☺️

Hi again, I am Shirley and written a few articles over the years about my running journey. I am looking at something more low impact and better for my joints. So this is my new journey.

As seasons change notice how the colours in nature change. Spring is on the horizon but I’m  not a fan of the cold!! Honestly I am sure the older I get the faster the years go! I have been going through a very tough season and hoping it will soon be a new and better one, as I am sure many can relate.

I am determined to get back out exercising even in the cold, but instead of running I am going to try power walking as my right knee gets a sharp pain when I run. I do not want to cause any lasting damage so why I am trying something new and low impact.

I am starting my journey this month, and will share how it's going as I desperately need to lose some pounds, as my under active thyroid isn't making it easy.
