"I’m Home " a Poem by Sarah Lou Cawdron

The key turns, a soft click, a sound so sweet,

The door swings wide, my weary feet

Find rest at last upon the floor,

A haven reached, I need no more.

The scent of home, a gentle breeze,

Of comfort found amongst the trees,

Or maybe spice, a warming stew,

Whatever it is, it feels so true.

Familiar walls, a friendly face,

A quiet smile, a warm embrace,

The day is done, the work is past,

My journey's end, my anchor cast.

No more to roam, no more to stray,

Within these walls, I'll softly say,

"I'm home, at last, I'm truly home,"

My heart finds peace, no longer to roam.
