Deborah is a Therapist working from her home office in Felixstowe, and after lots of chats with different parts of the community, felt that so many people only really felt able to say they were suffering from the fall out of grief if someone had died. Deborah felt it was only right to write this article in hope to help members of the community..
Summer is fast approaching, and there's nothing better than a refreshing fruit smoothie to cool you down in the hot weather. Here are some of my favorite fruit smoothie combinations that are perfect for hot weather:
I’m a great believer in approaching overall health holistically: mind, body and soul. When it comes to body image, I have come to learn, and experience, that the mind absolutely does affect weight, shape and size. It is a subject that is close to my heart because I started to gain weight at the age of twelve and then went on to battle an eating disorder in my late teens and twenty’s. Gradually I managed to focus my attention on being healthy and not just thin, but it wasn’t until I learnt about the power of the subconscious mind that I managed to get to the root cause of my self sabotage and finally understood why I neglected and punished myself for so long.
Living in Felixstowe offers many opportunities to enjoy outdoor activities like swimming. Swimming is an excellent way for us to exercise and stay healthy. Not only does it provide a full body workout, but it also has numerous health benefits that are worth considering. Swimming is a low-impact exercise, which makes it easy on the joints. It is much easier on the body than running or playing sports, which can lead to injuries. This makes it ideal for people with certain medical conditions, such as arthritis, who are unable to participate in more vigorous forms of exercise.
Are you planning to enjoy a swim in a public pool? If so, it's important to remember the proper etiquette for swimming pool use. Not only will following swimming pool etiquette help ensure everyone’s safety and comfort, but it will also be appreciated by other swimmers.
Swimming is a popular form of exercise and recreation. There are a variety of ways to swim, each with its own benefits and challenges. Felixstowe is a fantastic place to test out all these swimming styles, as it has the fantastic Leisure Centre and of course, the sea. My personal favourite style would be freestyle or combination swimming. To be honest, I am a little hesitant when it comes to backstroke as I do not like not being able to see what’s in front of me. However! I am working on it and I have been swimming using backstroke more often. Anyway, here are some styles…
If you’re looking for a new hobby, then wild swimming may be perfect for you! These fantastic women have done lots of challenging swims and honestly we’re inspired! 😊❤️
Hello there! It’s me, The Unconfident Swimmer, starting to feel less of the ‘un’ to be fair. I’ve just realised I haven’t written an article since January - believe me a lot has changed - especially my confidence and stamina.
March 15th marks the 2nd anniversary of Dare to Dip, and on the 10th I was 18 months sober. If you do the math you will notice that I had a slight relapse at the beginning of my year-long challenge. I truly believe that the cold water and the community helped me get back on track a lot quicker than ever before.
We know that during the week can be stressful, it can be hard finding ways to reduce your stress. Felixstowe’s Sandra Jones has some fantastic ways to help…
Imagination is way more powerful than anything you consciously know. It really is in your best interest to become aware of just how much we unconsciously let our imaginations run away with all sorts of silly scenarios. Once you start to notice the images in your mind you can start to recognise times and situations in your life when you may be automatically picturing the worst and take your power back. Take phobias for example - the film, Arachnophobia, is enough to make someone in this country scared of spiders and a scene with a plane crash can create a fear of flying. A Harvard University study found the odds of being in an airplane crash are one in 1.2 million compared to the odds of being in a car accident, which is one in 5000. Yet a fear of flying is far more common than that of getting into a car.
We got in touch with local blogger, Shirley. She’s written us a few articles, which you can find here. We thought we’d see what Shirley has been up to and what her plans are for this upcoming season ☺️
You may have seen a group called Dare to Dip, or even seen these awesome swimmers out and about, we reached out to Sam for an article about his group. Over to you Sam 😊
We know that January can cause those post-Christmas winter blues, but we have some tips to help try and put a smile on your face ☺️ Try the following as a ONE-WEEK SELF-LOVE CHALLENGE and tell us how you got on:
Most people are doing the best they can. If they knew better they would probably be doing better, right? Awareness is key because anything outside of your awareness is generally considered outside of your control. Understanding how your own mind works is naturally going to benefit you, but knowing the intricate parts of your brains anatomy really isn’t necessary. We are fortunate enough to live in a time where the study of neurology has progressed massively and information is easily available at the touch of a button… thank you Google… The rules of the mind is a great place to start and I’ve picked two of the many rules to begin with.
Hi all! You may have seen MegaClean's awesome vouchers in our offers section, we thought how amazing it would be if she wrote some cleaning tips for us to share with you all! Over to you Meg
Imagine being in chronic pain most of the time. There's no magic pill that you can take to get rid of the pain and there are only a few people in your life that understand what it's like.
Launching on Saturday 27th August is the very first fitness competition in Felixstowe!
2022 has been a remarkable year for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, being the first British monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee following 70 years of loyal service to her country.
Running can be really hard for some, it takes lots of hard work, especially in hot weather!! Here, we have Sean to tell us what it was like on the weekend 😊
